Invisalign® Overview

Think back, and remember the last time you saw someone wearing metal braces on their teeth. It was a long time ago, right? That’s because there are better alternatives now, one of them being Invisalign® clear braces. They’re virtually invisible, as you can tell from the name.

Here’s the thing about metal braces – first off, they’re made of metal. Sounds obvious, doesn’t it? They also have wires and rubber bands, and it hurts when you have them adjusted. Also, they have to stay in place while your teeth are being straightened – you can’t take them off, ever.

Now, with Invisalign clear braces, unless someone is really up close and personal with you, they might not even know that you’re wearing braces. And you can take your Invisalign braces off for cleaning and eating. That means that it’s so much easier to clean around and under the braces, and you have a far lower risk of decay on the front of your teeth.

One of the worst things people who wear brace report is the tightening treatments. They have to visit the dentist regularly to have their braces tightened, and then their teeth hurt for days afterward. With Invisalign, you get a very gentle, gradual treatment.  You receive all your aligners at the beginning of your treatment, and you just change them every few weeks. No visits for horrible tightening of your braces.

Also, with Invisalign, you can take the aligners off from time to time. So if you want to eat a steak, enjoy corn on the cob, or even chew gum, you can do it.

So, are you a candidate for Invisalign? Most people are. Unless you have a bite issue that requires very severe correction, chances are Invisalign will work for you. You can have your bite corrected virtually invisibly, and with none of the discomfort that comes with metal braces. No railroad tracks in your mouth, no pain, and no food getting stuck up under your braces.
